The April 27 proceeding would be more like oral argument rather than a "hearing" in which the Vice Chancellor is taking testimony -- right?
(And for what it's worth, you get a huge amount of points in my book for setting us plebeians straight on the intricacies of motion practice in Chancery.)
You're absolutely right to make this distinction. Although I suppose it's not impossible, it would be very unusual for there to be live testimony. The better view is that this will be a hearing that is effectively of the type that most would call an oral argument.
